Who is hosting the forum?

As Malaysia assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, the Malaysian Government, through the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Department (BHEUU, JPM), in partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), will be hosting the ASEAN Law Forum in Kuala Lumpur with the support of ASEAN Member States, Timor-Leste, and Dialogue Partners.

What are the themes of the forum?

The forum will address a broader range of contemporary legal challenges. These include alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as arbitration and mediation, as well as cross-border insolvency, online safety, cyber-related crimes, criminal justice reforms, AI Integration, Good governance, business and human rights, and commercial law reforms.

How to register?

Head of Delegates (HOD), delegates and all participants are requested to complete the online registration through the following link: https://aseanlawforum.dataventure.my/delegate/registration/attendee/brug6q/ by 30 July 2025. All delegations are reminded to complete the online registration within the stipulated timeline and ensure the accuracy of all submitted information. Confirmed registration will be notified via email. Kindly note that late submissions and/ or incomplete information may result in delays in the issuance of forum passes.

What is the cost to attend?

The event is free of charge and accessible to everyone, so there are no fees to participate.

Who can attend the forum?

Anyone with an interest in law and legal affairs is welcome to attend. Whether you’re a legal expert, policymaker, practitioner, or interested in the field from ASEAN member states or the international community, you’ll find valuable insights at our forum.

Is the event virtual or in-person?

This is an in-person event, giving attendees the opportunity to participate in interactive sessions, engage in meaningful discussions, and network with professionals.

Information on travel

Please be advised to check the validity of the passports and the visa requirements. Minimum validity is more than six (6) months. Holders of Diplomatic/ Official/ Service passports do not require a visa to enter Malaysia, they must however, if required, present the following documents upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA): 1) Official invitation for the ASEAN Law Forum 2025 and; 2) a valid passport, with an expiry date of more than 6 (six) months after the date of entry into Malaysia and at least 2 (two) blank pages. Delegates holding a non-ASEAN Member State passport may need to request for an entry visa before entering Malaysia. Appropriate visa and further inquiries can be obtained from any Malaysian Mission in their respective countries A valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required from all delegate traveling to or through Yellow Fever endemic areas of countries; The vaccination certificate is valid 10 days after the date of vaccination and lasts for a lifetime; and In accordance with Article 68 of the International Health Regulations of the World Health Organization, delegates without a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate will be quarantined upon arrival in Malaysia.

Media Arrangements

Media representatives must provide a valid press card and letter of assignment endorsed by their respective media agency or office. The respective media should register their valid press card at emedia.penerangan.gov.my. Media will be provided with adequate working space, communication facilities and other related media services at the Media Centre
