Register NowThe ASEAN Chairmanship is an annually rotating leadership role within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), where one of the ten member states assumes the responsibility of steering the organisation’s agenda and initiatives for the year.
In 2025, Malaysia assumed the ASEAN Chairmanship under the theme ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability.’ It underscores the conviction of ASEAN’s commitment towards a truly shared progress, ensuring no one is left behind and strengthening regional peace, stability and prosperity within an inclusive, sustainable and future-oriented framework.
As part of the Chairmanship theme of ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability’, Malaysia is committed to strengthening legal frameworks that support regional integration. In the words of YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia and Chair of ASEAN 2025: “We look forward to the ASEAN Law Forum on International Arbitration and Mediation Development and the adoption of a Joint Statement by ASEAN Law Ministers in August 2025, in Kuala Lumpur. This will reaffirm ASEAN’s commitment to promoting arbitration and mediation mechanisms aligned with international standards to support regional economic integration.”
